Vallejera de Riofrío is a locality and municipality in the southeastern part of the province of Salamanca, in Castilla y León (Spain, Europe). It is part of the Sierra de Béjar area (and the sub-region or natural region of Albarracín Bejarano). It belongs to the judicial district of Béjar, the judicial district no. 4 of the province of Salamanca.
According to data from the INE in 2023, it has a population of 67 inhabitants and an area of 7.26 km². The municipality of Vallejera de Riofrío is divided between the village of Vallejera de Riofrío (the municipal capital) and the rural dispersed community of el Puerto (also known as the Puerto de Vallejera), the latter being very close to the famous Puerto de Vallejera (1186 meters), one of the most renowned mountain passes in southern Salamanca.
The small but beautiful parish church is dedicated to Our Lady of the Incarnation; it dates back to the 19th century and is in the Salmantino neo-Romanesque style. The patrons of Vallejera de Riofrío are the Virgin of the Incarnation, San Roque, and the Most Holy Christ of Agony. The patronal festivals of Vallejera de Riofrío, in honor of the Virgin of the Incarnation and San Roque, take place in mid-August; in addition, the Festivals of the Christ of Agony are celebrated during the second weekend of May.
