On 02.01 we had to check out of the hostel at 10 o'clock. After having some breakfast, we picked up our car. Then we went to the Botanic Garden, saw the famous Cable Car and spent the rest of the day at the city beach in Wellington.
In the evening, shortly before 6 o'clock, we were at the harbor and joined the check-in line. We set sail at 7 o'clock sharp. The ferry had 2 large passenger decks and we found a place to enjoy our dinner.
After about 2 hours, we went outside to watch the sunset.
After a little over 3 hours, we arrived at the port of Picton at 22:15. The captain parked very neatly in an extremely small parking space. The harbor was much smaller than the one in Wellington. Since we were one of the first to drive onto the ferry, we had to wait a little longer to get off. I called a campsite that I had talked to before to ask if they would still let us in, because most receptions close at 10 p.m. at the latest. We arrived there around 23 o'clock and fortunately got a spot.
