Road trip in Australia

Published: 11.10.2017

Our road trip along the West Coast of Australia started in the capital of Western Australia, Perth. We rented a campervan from Juicy Rentals and off we went. Despite all the warnings, we decided to head towards the tropical north. We were warned because January is the rainy season in northern Australia. But we thought as long as we stay on paved roads, we should be fine.

Our first stop was at the sand dunes in Lancelin. Then we continued to Cervantes to see the Pinnacles. We continued through Geraldton to the Kalbarri National Park with its charming coastal areas and wild gorges. Finally, we reached Shark Bay with its incredible Shell Beach and Monkey Mia with its friendly and curious wild dolphins.

Finally arrived in Coral Bay, we snorkeled in the Ningaloo Reef and saw whale sharks and many colorful fish. In the far north in Exmouth, we visited the national park and watched the sea turtles hatch.
Then we decided to visit the highlight, the Karijini National Park. With its beautiful gorges, waterfalls, and natural pools, Karijini National Park attracts countless tourists every year. But when we arrived, the warnings from the locals proved true and we were hit by a huge tropical storm. We just managed to flee to the nearest town and found safety. What can we say? The weather in the tropical north is unpredictable and should not be underestimated.

Tips to avoid bad weather on vacation can be found in my next blog post.
