Road trip to Hue

Published: 13.11.2018

Tommy and I had separated for the onward journey to Hue. I really wanted to ride the 180km by scooter. That's why on Monday I had actually booked a group trip with a driver, at least that was my understanding. At the agency that rents out scooters and offers tours, they could only speak poor English. At least I was supposed to be picked up on Tuesday at 9 o'clock and my luggage was supposed to be taken to Hue by bus. But the reality looked a bit different ๐Ÿ˜‚... Who would have thought... ๐Ÿ˜‚
Just before nine o'clock, a driver with a scooter arrived, at least that was my guide. He said we would quickly take my backpack to the agency together and then we would go... When we arrived at the agency, he said let's go. But I was supposed to ride with him. Complete nonsense I thought, that would hurt my back ๐Ÿคฃ
After a short conversation and a few extra marks, I finally had my scooter and now my private tour guide ๐Ÿ˜Ž You can do it, you have to do it... It was just soooo damn awesome. I'll just put all the pictures in the blog post, then you'll know what I mean. Well, the traffic here is still messed up.... Blink left, overtake right, and then honking from all sides, honking, honking... But hey, I survived.
Summary of the tour: First, we went to the 4th largest city, Danang. I had a brief moment of panic when we entered a 5-lane roundabout, but luckily I had brought spare underwear. ๐Ÿ˜œ Then we stopped twice in Danang. At the first stop, I went to an observation platform with a fantastic view and various caves with temples. It's pretty impressive what was created here hundreds of years ago. It's also very Chinese-influenced here. The good old days. Then we crossed the Dragon Bridge.. Who doesn't know it?! Donald Trump walked across it last year..
....Naahhhhh, just kidding...

After that, we crossed the Hai Van Pass. What a view. Once we arrived back in the valley, we had lunch at Lang Co Beach. It hasn't seen much tourism, so it looks pretty dirty. The last stop was Elephant Springs. A larger waterfall where you could cool off properly. Finally, we arrived in Hue, my pants were full again, but it was an amazing experience and I would do it again anytime. My guide also offered me a 2-day tour through the jungle. I really wanted to do it, but unfortunately I don't have enough time ๐Ÿ˜–

In the evening, I met up with Tommy again at the hostel and went out to eat with two Australians I had met on the tour. On Wednesday, we visited the Imperial City. Basically, a city within the city with its temples. Tonight we're heading to Phong Nha... New city, new challenges ๐Ÿ˜œ

Something else for a good cause... It's November again and therefore Movember. Every year in November, men grow mustaches to raise money for research and prevention of prostate cancer and other men's health issues.

We've been doing this as a team for years and would appreciate a donation

By the way, it's tax deductible ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜‰
