Jamaica - Day 2 - Travel from Montego Bay to Ocho Rios and first impressions

Published: 09.11.2016

On the first morning in Jamaica, we woke up early to talk to the locals and the hotel owners about the best means of transport in Jamaica. The route taxis were recommended by the locals as they always follow fixed routes and are the cheapest option. With $10 US and 1000 Jamaican dollars, we arrived at the bus park without knowing the cost of the ride (naive) - daring. We then took a small bus for 1000 Jamaican dollars to Ocho Rios (very cheap). The bus was designed for 10 people but was loaded with 20 people (and us with our giant backpacks...). However, everything went smoothly.

On the way from the bus park to the hostel, we were approached by thousands of people asking where we came from or if we wanted to buy something.

In the evening, we explored the area and talked to many locals, gaining many insights into the simple life of Jamaicans.

End of Day 2.
