After the last lazy days, we are back on tour today. Yesterday, Mom took great pool and underwater photos, but then her phone gave up. Mind you, no water damage, it just won't turn on anymore.
Back to the Venice trip. We drive to the boat dock in Punta sabbioni. €7 for parking and then the ship, relatively cheap at €26 for all round trip. The 35-minute ride flew by. Arriving in Venice, there was a huge tourist crowd. We stroll around the Piazza. The kids demand an appeasing ice cream, which by the way gets cheaper the further you go into the city. A real shopping El Dorado. Thousands of small alleys with shops, shops, and more shops... Clothes, shoes, bags, souvenirs, and restaurants. The alleys get narrower and the frustration grows in the older child. No desire to walk, everything sucks and they're hungry. So we make a quick stop for watermelon, and then Papa navigates us to McDonald's. It was a madhouse there, but whatever, as long as the kids are happy. On the way back to the port, Jule falls asleep in the stroller. The rest of us search like crazy for the right ship. No signs - asking helps. There were several with the same desperate look as us. On the boat ride, child 2 falls asleep.
Alright, we need some cool down. The pool is calling.
Tomorrow we'll pack up and on Wednesday we'll head to Pisa.
