Bali-Yoga in Ubud

On Saturday morning, very early, I went to the airport in Yogjakarta with Grab. I have no idea what the Asians are transporting in the airplane. However, there are always several boxes that are checked in at the check-in counter. Accordingly, a luggage cart is always needed, which you can keep pushing into the back of the person in front of you. Annoying! And it always takes forever for them to get things going. The flight from Yogjakarta to Bali, of course, had a one-hour delay. The airport in Yogjakarta is also not the most comfortable. A relatively small waiting area, where all seating options were occupied, as six flights were about to depart almost simultaneously. Quite a challenge with only four gates. As soon as one aircraft was processed, the seats filled up again very quickly. So I had no choice but to walk back and forth. After what felt like an eternity, the time finally came. Boarding and off we go. The flight with Lion Air took one hour. When I arrived in Denpasar, my mom took a taxi. It is the only option to get from the airport to the desired location in Bali if you have not booked a transfer in advance. At least you can't get ripped off here. There is a fixed price. During the ride, my taxi driver gave me a lot of information about Bali and of course about his family. And as always, they didn't know where my accommodation in Ubud was. On my suggestion to enter the name of my accommodation in Maps, the goal was then clear. Why not like that from the beginning! When I arrived at the homestay, my mom took a nap again. It somehow became a tradition. Arrive and sleep! After that, I went to The Yoga Barn. Because in Ubud, I wanted to bend and knead myself properly again. At The Yoga Barn, I first got a card for three yoga classes and made an appointment for a Abanyanga full body massage the next day. In the evening, I had a freshly mixed cucumber-mint-ginger-honey juice at a little warung (traditional Indonesian restaurant). Some people might say yuck now. But in the heat, it is first of all very refreshing and secondly generally delicious. There were also grilled tofu satay skewers with spicy peanut sauce and rice for five euros. Bali is a bit more expensive than Java when it comes to food, etc.
The next morning, my mom strolled to the one and a half hour Vinyasa slow Flow yoga class. It felt really good. In the afternoon, there was supposed to be an "Ecstatic Dance" event at The Yoga Barn. But I skipped it. Not that I'm not generally up for such an event. Most of the people who were already there seemed a bit too ecstatic for me. They had sniffed a bit too much incense. I wouldn't have been able to reach their spheres anymore. That would have been a bit too much for me in that moment. In the afternoon, I finally got the long-awaited massage. Before that, my mom had to fill out an Ayurvedic questionnaire about her well-being, and then it started. First, traditionallly, my feet were washed with flowers and leaves, then the massaging started. I tell you, it was wonderful!!! Warm sesame oil (my mom had a bit too much Vata) and the massage made me as soft as butter within an hour. After the massage, I got a huge pot of Ayurvedic tea, which I enjoyed in absolute peace and quiet. It was raining. During the rainy season, you can set your watch by the rain on Bali. It starts raining every day, punctually between 12 and 13 o'clock, and then doesn't stop for two hours. So: pack an umbrella if you are out and about there.
The next day, I treated myself to another morning Vinyasa Flow class and a 90-minute Ayuryoga massage in the late afternoon. What I ordered there was no picnic. I thought that I would be gently stretched and massaged. Far from it! No one has ever penetrated so deeply into my muscles during a massage. My mom almost jumped onto the ceiling several times. The special highlight was the perceived leap of my masseur onto the massage table, with me lying on my stomach, at the same time grabbing my calves, which were almost immediately pressed against her upper body, and then she leaned forward with her full body weight. I suffered for 90 minutes. But afterwards I was really deeply relaxed and exhausted for the rest of the day.
On Tuesday, I decided to stroll through the monkey forest in Ubud. A quiet and beautiful place.



















The next day, my mom started the day very relaxed. With delicious banana pancakes and fresh fruit. In the late morning, I went to Yin Yoga and used up my three-card yoga pass at The Yoga Barn. Because on Thursday, I was supposed to continue to my last destination in Indonesia. The small island of Nusa Lembongan, which is located southeast of the coast of Bali and is said to have preserved its originality.
