Day 10 (Tokyo)

Published: 25.03.2023

Our first real day in Tokyo started with a mega breakfast. It not only looked very good, but also tasted better than anything we had before. In addition, we could choose what we wanted, from 6 things that were offered.

After breakfast, we walked back to Akihabara. Nico was far from finished there, and since it was his number 1 travel destination, we wanted to do it on the first day. However, it started raining on the way there and we had to buy umbrellas at the nearest konbini. A purchase that turned out to be worth its weight in gold later on.

Armed with umbrellas, we continued on our way and thus began the biggest shopping tour of my life.

By evening, we had been to dozens of stores. Many with multiple floors but limited space on each floor. One store had a total of 10 floors and was simply enormous. However, all the stores had one thing in common: they were almost always anime stores. From figures to cards, from mangoes to DVDs, this place makes every weeb's heart beat faster. A true dream place for Nico and it showed. We went inside so many stores and Nico bought a lot, so it became really exhausting after a few hours. At the end of the day, we had taken over 17,000 steps, which shows how much we walked from store to store all day long. While Nico didn't hold back on buying, I was as stingy as always, until something caught my eye in a store and I just had to take it with me.

The rain continued all day, so despite the umbrellas, we didn't stay dry and took a short break at a small store during lunch to rest and let our jackets dry.

The adventure came to an end when Nico said he had everything on his list. A blessing for me, as I was really exhausted. As in the past few days, the temperatures were summer-like, meaning over 20 degrees Celsius, and after all the back and forth, I was completely sweaty and just wanted to go back to the hotel. When we arrived there, I went straight to the shower without delay.

Freshly showered and exhausted, I only wanted one thing: food! However, we didn't feel like going far in this weather, so we had our dinner at the restaurant where we ate yesterday, which was right across from the hotel.

In the evening, we inspected our loot from our adventure once again, and then the day was already over.
