On the way from Curillo to the next destination Paxariñas, A Coruña is located. We have the idea to visit the World Heritage Site "Hercules Tower" on the way. The Hercules Tower is one of the oldest lighthouses in the world and was built by the Romans in the 2nd century.
We drive with our caravan on the city highway towards the intermediate destination. To our surprise, the road suddenly goes underground, and suddenly there is a sign indicating a clearance height of 3.20m - we realize too late how high our caravan is 😟. We intuitively assume that it is lower and continue driving. The road turns out to be a literal trap... on the left there is a parking lot - clearance height 2.20m, which definitely doesn't fit! Then the road leads us in a snail shape back to daylight, and shortly after we have reached our destination.
There are parking facilities for buses, cars and motorhomes - unfortunately not for caravans. The funny lady at the information desk said that we can park with our caravan, but not together. 👍😏 😄. So we just stop for a short photo and continue driving.
We go back through the trap & Heidi spontaneously crosses herself when we make it through 😂.
On the highway to our destination, we are glad to have survived the small stop unharmed.
We have gained some more experience: We now know how high our caravan is (2.75m) and that we won't do something like that again. 👍😉
