After almost three weeks of traveling together, we were simply dropped off at the border between Costa Rica and Panama - and we were on our own again, without a car. Well-prepared, we approached the border crossing into a country that a passionate 'Janosch' reader has wanted to visit since childhood.
Contrary to all expectations, no proof was required: no ticket for our onward flight from Panama, no additional fees, no proof of $500 in assets per person, no copies of identification - everything was easy. And just like that, we were besieged by an eager seller who frantically waved us into a minibus. Two minutes later, we were on the bus, on our way to Bocas del Torro, a Caribbean island whose unique and alternative charm we immediately liked. After the fun bus ride - at times the passengers were almost stacked - we looked forward to three relaxing days with dream beaches, bike and sailing tours, and we were not disappointed at all.
8 weeks after leaving Germany, and 4,500 (bus) km later, we arrived at our final stop in Central America, Panama City. After exploring the largest city on our journey, we finally said goodbye to Central America with a final 'Servus' and embarked on the second part of our journey - South America - with a flight to Colombia.
