26.12.2021 The second day of Christmas / O segundo dia de Natal

Published: 08.01.2022

In Brazil, there is no second day of Christmas, it is a normal working day. We had leftovers for dinner again. Nevertheless, in the afternoon we visited Atalaia beach, about 10km away from our house. It's a great beach, and you can have your food brought to the beach from the restaurant. The restaurant provides chairs and tables for this purpose.

What I haven't seen anywhere else so far: The beach has two lanes for cars marked directly between the beach and the water. Normal cars can drive here, as well as the public buses that bring the beach visitors.

Of course, there were also some roaming sellers on the beach selling ice cream or other food, but also employees of a recently planned holiday resort trying to attract new customers for this resort. Curiously, we attended one of these presentations. We were told that the presentation would last half an hour, but it ended up being 2 hours, as during the presentation we were repeatedly presented with new financing models, just to reach a conclusion.

We could have bought shares in an apartment. These apartments were intended for 2, 4 or 6 people, and by buying shares in the apartment, you can use the apartment for a maximum of 28 days per year, two weeks in the summer and two weeks in the winter. You acquire co-ownership and then always have to coordinate with the other owners when you want to use the apartment.

These types of deals are known from other countries, including Germany, and you should stay away from them because it's uncertain when you would be able to move into the apartment and whether the complex will even be finished or if the construction company will go bankrupt before that.

With thanks, we declined such a financing arrangement. However, we were still given vouchers for the associated wave pool and leisure pool, so we drove back to our house.
