Today it's time to say goodbye, or as the Croatians say 'Do Viedenja' (Goodbye). We are feeling quite melancholic and even shed tears when saying goodbye to our camping neighbors. We pack up our things and head to the ferry. On the way there, the vultures circle above our car one last time and bid farewell. We admire the crystal-clear water from the ferry one last time as we cross over to Brestova. Our journey takes us along the coast towards the north and we pass through the beautiful city of Opatija. We would have liked to make a quick stop here, but unfortunately we can't find a suitable parking spot for our camper. We leave Croatia towards Slovenia and pass through the Karawanken Tunnel towards Austria. In the past 4 weeks, we have collected plenty of vignettes.
The children sleep a lot. The extensive nap probably comes in handy after such an exciting time. We only make a stop in Altenmarkt im Pongau. Here we find a small, family-run campsite. The outdoor thermometer shows 15 degrees. We are all still wearing our summer clothes, as we started today at 31 degrees. We put on appropriate clothing for the weather and have a nice dinner in the evening. Tobi finally gets his long-awaited veal Wiener Schnitzel and is happy.
Later, Tobi and Marik race around the campsite with the go-kart. Somehow, all the pent-up energy needs to be released. Tomorrow we will continue to the Altmühltal, where we will meet my brother Stefan and his family, before heading back to Dresden on Tuesday.
