The day starts early and yet well-rested. There are always a few more kilometers to drive than expected, but we make good progress on the very well-made roads. Which is not self-evident for France.
The lunch break consists of leftover food. Yes, there are leftovers already after two days. Onion steamed, bouillon prepared, pasta cooked and then some of the remaining hamburger meat added. And you have a complete meal. There is also half a naan bread. Since it is difficult to find a chair and table with too much wind, we settle for a kind of tank barrier. By the way, we didn't see any tables all morning.
After passing through Montelimar, we continue to Chateauneuf du Pape. There are also the first noteworthy meters of altitude. Actually, I didn't really miss them after the Camino de Santiago. But we are rewarded with a beautiful view.
The campsite is located just below the destination and we are warmly welcomed.
Pay, choose a spot, voila. Set up the tent and cook, because we are naturally hungry. First, the purchased saffron risotto with white wine and beef skewers is cooked. With a small pan and a frying pan, but only one cooking spot, it's a small challenge ;) Actually, I wanted to buy mushrooms, but they wouldn't have fit.
Fortunately, there is an unoccupied tent next door with chairs in front of it. We snag two and can dine civilized.
When the socket doesn't want to give any power, I realize that I should have mentioned the electricity at the reception. We steal again from the unoccupied one... laziness wins.
Although there is a pool, we don't feel like it because of the cold. We prefer a hot shower to a cold bath.
We go to bed relatively early, as the WiFi is cut off after 15 minutes or so and we don't feel like paying.
