meersburg - constance 60km

Published: 24.05.2023

As always, we got up at seven o'clock and left at eight. Packing up the tent was a bit more complicated this time because it had rained during the night and everything was a bit wet. Luckily, it stopped raining briefly, so we were able to keep the inside of the tent relatively dry.

For the journey, we packed a bit more because it was quite chilly with 10 degrees Celsius and wind.

We hadn't been driving for long when we found a cafe, or rather a bakery with coffee. We enjoyed our rolls and coffee in the warmth.

Then we continued at a good pace. We drove through many beautiful small villages, and at one point, it felt similar to South Tyrol. Many fruit trees (cherries, apples) lined up next to each other. In the middle of the fruit trees, I thought about a bench and maybe an apple. We found the bench and the apple, along with apple cake and rhubarb cake. We also got a freshly baked bread, apple juice, and a few more apples. We brewed our own coffee.

Feeling refreshed, we continued our journey and quickly realized that my front tire was a bit "soft". So, for the first time in over eight years, I had to change a tube on the road. Luckily, I had a spare one with me, so it was quickly fixed.

Before Constance, we took another break and enjoyed our lunch. Bread, cheese, leftover schnitzel from yesterday, salami, and cucumber were on the menu.

In Constance, we drove through because we wanted to come back later. First, we headed to the campsite on the Swiss side in Kreuzlingen. Once we set up the tent, we cycled back to Constance and explored the city.

After the photo session, we went grocery shopping for dinner. We found out that the campsite had a grill with wood available for everyone, and a kitchen was also provided. There was also a "glass box" with tables and chairs, protected from the wind and rain. Perfect for taking care of ourselves as tent campers. So, we made ourselves mushroom risotto with white wine and a few turkey steaks. We also had a salad.

While checking in and later on, I noticed that a sibling pair seemed to be a bit tight on money. The circumstances were unclear, but I didn't want to inquire further. At least, I asked if they would like something from us, and they were happy and gladly accepted. They happily took the remaining risotto and some bread. We don't need it.

Now we are still in the "glass box" and enjoying the evening in dryness and peace.
