Tag 52: Shannon National Park - Pemberton - Gloucester National Park - Big Brook Forest

Published: 04.11.2018

Even today, our kids are being good to us and we can sleep in. It started raining lightly in the early morning hours. We play Lego and have a leisurely breakfast. You don't need to rush to leave such a beautiful place. Samuel really wants to saw again. Luckily, I packed our folding saw. So the boys go outside in their rain gear and we girls do the housework.

Around noon, we drive to Pemberton. We arrive at the railway station at around 12:30 p.m. We take the Pemberton Tramway through the Karri forests at 2 p.m. We get our tickets and have a snack in the camper before we start. Unfortunately, the weather hasn't really improved. Nevertheless, we enjoy the ride. It's not necessarily a highlight, but the kids really like it.

At 4 p.m., we go to Gloucester National Park to the Gloucester Tree. You can climb the tree here. Michi dares to go up the 53 meters. Samuel really wants to go too. In our opinion, he's still too small for that, so he has to stay on the ground. There are many beautiful colorful birds here that are quite cheeky. One almost flew into the door to greet us, and another cheekily pinched Michi's bottom.

Our accommodation for tonight is Big Brook Arboretum in the Big Brook Forest. From Gloucester, we drive about 10 kilometers on the Karri Forest Explorer (a very beautiful forest path). We are not disappointed here either. A beautiful place in the forest. It's a bit smaller than yesterday (about 10 spots), but the campers are closer together here and there are more people. There is also a fire pit and the evening is saved for Samuel. He's busy sawing wood again. We meet a man from Freiburg who emigrated to Australia in 1982 and started his own bakery. Today, Samuel gets his favorite food again - pancakes.
