Myrkdalen

Published: 22.08.2019

The ferry brought us from Dragsvik to Vangsnes in the morning. We continued south along the beautiful Sognefjord towards Myrkdalen. Our route was occasionally crossed by sheep or cows. The tunnels here are sometimes a real adventure. Mostly single-lane and pitch dark, one would prefer to avoid oncoming traffic.

Sometimes we stop in a town that crosses our path. The Norwegian wooden houses always look quaint and cozy. It is not uncommon to see roofs covered with grass and lichens. In small shops, you can often find traditional troll figures and typical knitwear. We bought Bruno some warm felt covers.

When we arrived in Myrkdalen, we took a long walk. In a small gallery, we could admire the woodcarving art of the owner. Among other things, he had carved a nearly life-size eagle.

While preparing dinner in the kitchen at the campsite, Steffen was given a freshly caught trout by a Frenchman. We cooked it right away and enjoyed the fresh fish taste.
