After a good breakfast with a sensational fruit plate, today we had to focus on clean clothes, that is, we had to wash urgently π. So we packed 4 bags of dirty laundry and drove to Hilo to the Laundry Express, a large laundromat that is open 24 hours a day. The cheapest washing rates are available there at night between 2 and 4 o'clock. We didn't want to wait that long, so we asked a friendly staff member directly how it works here, and an hour later we left the Laundry Express with 4 bags of clean laundry. I wish everything was already ironed π₯΅.
In the afternoon, we took a trip to Akaka Falls State Park, where we took a walk through the rainforest to the impressive Akaka Falls, a tropical waterfall where the water plunges 135 meters into the depths.
In the evening, we had some Thai food in Hilo and now we are back at the Orchid Tree Lodge, trying to sleep despite the incredible noise of the geckos π¦ π΄.
Oh, by the way... I saw a humpback whale jumping out of the water this morning π³. Steve said he had already seen some humpbacks and a few dolphins early in the morning. It is now the time when the whales come by here π.
