One last breakfast with the host families, who have become very dear to us - some enjoyed the sunrise in the breathtaking landscape of Arizona and diligently photographed cacti, others indulged in American delicacies. However, we all sadly had to say goodbye to mommies, daddies, siblings, and dogs who made our stay unforgettable. Thank you to all singers, friends, and relatives of the Orpheus Men's Choir! After a last serenade for our hosts, we set off to Flagstaff with our bus driver named "Happy".
on the road to nowhere While the cacti disappeared and the temperatures outside dropped, the air conditioning seemed to have decided the opposite and we ended up taking the summer heat with us. Despite all of "Happy's" efforts, this problem couldn't be fixed - nevertheless, we arrived on the college campus on time and happily and were able to listen to the rehearsal of the Shrine of the Ages Choir.NUA Campus Little helpers: robots on campus The young singers are rightly considered one of the best college choirs in the USA and enchanted us with their extraordinary precision, discipline, and dedication during the joint concert. They mastered everything with ease, from a Schütz in beautiful German to a traditional festal song from Sri Lanka with powerful and accurate choreography. Our hosts After such a performance, one feels a little lost on the big stage of the auditorium. Thanks to various formations and not least the friendly and enthusiastic faces of our hosts in the front rows, we nevertheless made the stage our own.Opening of the concert tour We sang with all our might against fatigue and dry throats during the joint final piece 'my soul's been anchored in the lord' and were able to experience the power of the choir from the inside. And once again, it became apparent: our fellow singers here in the USA are incredibly helpful, friendly, and enthusiastic! During the subsequent dessert (the obligatory 3 million calorie cheesecake), many came to congratulate us on our performance, ask questions about music and life, and be generally very kind to us. We can only reciprocate the well wishes and say thank you for the hospitality and the beautiful concert! Reception after the concert new choir, new friends
While some members from both choirs teamed up to explore Flagstaff, most are now enjoying a shower and a soft bed in the hotel. Tomorrow we will continue to the Grand Canyon with driver Martin (new bus, new luck) - what kind of acoustics will it have?
