Day 288: Waterfall tour

Published: 13.05.2024

Today we visited the waterfalls in the area. We actually wanted to leave at nine, but my alarm didn't go off, so I didn't wake up until half past nine. But as my mother and Astrid didn't get out of bed on time, we didn't leave until around ten.

We then drove to Gugglafoss in my car. We first looked at the waterfall and then walked up.

Since I hadn't filled up the tank the last time I was in the village, we had to make a quick detour to the gas station. In the village, we spontaneously went to a pizzeria for lunch, where they were having a pizza buffet. It was relatively full, but really tasty. Afterwards, we went to a small souvenir shop, where I usually get my yarn for crocheting.

Next we went to Seljalandsfoss, the big waterfall, which you can also walk behind, and there was also Gljúfrabúi, a smaller waterfall.

After a short thought, we continued on to Íráfoss, which I had only driven past before.

To round off a day full of water - it had rained a little in between - we went into the hot tub on the farm before dinner.

My mother and Astrid were invited to dinner again and we had Asian food.

After dinner we drove to another waterfall quite spontaneously. Nauthúsafoss is my favorite waterfall in the area, but the road there is so bad - although it has since been repaired - that you can only get there with a jeep and not with a normal car. So for the first time I was allowed to drive in the jeep, which worked really well. The climb through the canyon to the waterfall was a real adventure and we returned to the farm with a few wet socks.

See you then

Julie
