I slept really badly. After the general pissing at 3, I couldn't get to sleep for hours. I considered getting up and taking photos of/enjoying the sunrise. But then I fell asleep, woke up again at 7 because of my metabolism and went back to bed to sleep. Then I got up sometime after 9, feeling somewhat well-rested.
I'll try fruit and yoghurt for breakfast, because I don't want it to be much. We're going to Castelnuovo B.dga , where there's a market and grilled chicken is waiting for us.
Niente. No chickens. I buy a Dragon Ball beach towel for Marlies and a can opener for Mo (with an integrated bottle opener for Andi). Then we drive for miles with growling stomachs through the least populated corner of the Chianti region until we finally find food in Gaiole . I like it quite a bit, better than yesterday evening in Siena.
Bettina's accusation that we are being ripped off is justified, since we get a menu and everyone else (=Italians) gets the menu from the waiter and therefore also other dishes.
That means continuing to learn a lot of Italian and next time in such a situation, throwing the menu back and shouting, cursing and gesticulating loudly under threat of vendetta. Italian, of course!
Our wine consumption is increased even further by our visit to Olivera, so when we get home we head to the pool.
After the repeated ball game with Illungo, the evening will again be celebrated with Italian food from Austrian hands.
It's nice that we can still sit on the terrace in the short break at this late evening hour.
We stay up until the bottles are empty and then enjoy bedtime.
