Чексиз жолдон - Лампанг

Жарыяланган: 24.05.2019

We are heading to another place in northern Thailand recommended by the travel guide: Lampang, a city with 57,000 inhabitants, located on the Bangkok-Chiang Mai route. Once again, the beauty praised by the travel guide does not immediately reveal itself to us.

Perhaps it's because of the heat, the road construction sites, or the fact that our hotel doesn't look as good as it does in the photos on booking.com. What we really miss are pubs and restaurants where we can sit and eat comfortably in the evenings. In the end, we eat three times at the same restaurant, Aroy One Baht, which is quite good, nice, and cheap.

But the place also offers beautiful aspects: the tourist information office lends bicycles for free and we were able to explore the city and even more remote temples on our bikes.

Just like in Phrae, the teak wood trade flourished here and there are beautiful houses that are over 100 years old, some of which can be visited

Or like our hotel, to stay in

Not all of them are well preserved, but some streets are particularly special because of the wooden houses.
Of course, there are also a lot of temples on the sightseeing program. We particularly like Wat Sri Rongmaung with its tiered roof and elaborate carvings

And we also admire the ornate wooden buildings at other temples
Or simply the overall impression

After finding some air-conditioned cafes and because the first impression is always more critical than the others, we ended up spending three nice days here. Fortunately, the temperature has decreased slightly after two heavy rainstorms. It's easier to bear 34 degrees than 43.
