When I wake up, it's raining. My legs feel terribly tired. Yesterday was so tough. I don't always drive slowly, but I always try to keep up with the first ones. It's all quite demanding. And today we have 60 km on the plan. But we're staying here tonight as well. You could also just do nothing.
I'm considering riding part of the route, the paved section. When we want to leave, it starts raining heavily. My decision is made. Today will be the day of rest that my body is craving.
I go into town, which is not beautiful at all. Compared to Nicaragua, cities in Costa Rica usually have no charm. I find what I'm looking for. A massage parlor, and I choose the volcanic mud bath. Two hours, $75. First, there is a full-body massage, which is very effective. Sometimes almost painful. That's what my tired limbs need. Constantly new creams and new smells and then rubbing off with warm stones. I can't see anything, my eyes are covered. I can only feel. Foot reflexology massage and facial care are also included. The mud bath is not in a bathtub, but also on the massage table. I am smeared with volcanic clay, then it is allowed to take effect, and then everything is washed off.
Afterwards, it's noon and I enjoy myself at the Rainforest Café. The internet works perfectly here. Compared to our hotel, where there is no internet in the cozy wooden cabins and only a poor connection at the reception, as well as loud, aggressive music.
