Day 11, Bordeaux, Arcachon

Жарыяланган: 07.11.2019

This morning our alarm clock rang very early (7:00 a.m.), after all, we wanted to experience as much of 'Bordeaux' as possible. So in the morning we brought our luggage to the parking garage, which by the way is carved into the rock under the entire city and has 6 floors. Temperature inside: 23 degrees.

Then, thanks to the Bordeaux Citypass, we took the train to the market hall for free. The market is really big and very well stocked. Guinea fowl, capons, rabbits, brains, tongue, beef chops, cheese in all varieties, sausage, ham, all kinds of fruits and vegetables, lobsters, mussels, crabs... everything your heart desires can be bought here. Unfortunately, we were only there to look. Then we went back to the city center by train and took the Navette fluviale (a kind of ferry in Bordeaux) to the Cite du Vin. An impressive building where an interactive and very interesting wine museum can be found. The tour through the Cite du Vin took us from the ancient history of wine to today's modern technology. Hearing, seeing, smelling, tasting, and touching, all senses were challenged in the exhibition. After a short wine tasting on the 8th floor with a fantastic view over the city, we went back to our car and headed to Arcachon, finally back to the sea. Now just check in at the super beautiful hotel, upgrade to a balcony room with a sea view (Yippie), and then nothing at all. There's a storm outside anyway, heavy rain, thunder, and lightning, so a little nap seems like a good idea. For dinner, we'll go to the authentic French bistro/restaurant Chez Pierre and then, for once, go to bed early.
