Vitamin Sea helps

Last night was filled with relatively good sleep! The alarm clock rang at 8 a.m. We had already ordered a Grab in the app last night, which was supposed to take us to the port at 9:30 a.m. Our driver arrived on time at 9:11 a.m. and briefly overwhelmed us with our checkout. He said we had given the wrong port and he couldn't imagine we wanted to go there. Our landlady was so kind and helped us communicate and said it would be much easier to go to another port. It was also cheaper. At the harbor we booked the next ferry to Koh Phangan, which was supposed to leave in just under an hour. We were really surprised when we got on board because this time everything seemed much more serious. We can no longer speak of a boat, it was more of a small ship that could have accommodated 1,500 people and we wondered when this boat would be full. Probably only on full moon party days...

The trip took about an hour (yesterday we took the speedboat for maybe 20 minutes). Ronja used the time to put the finishing touches on her application. A taxi driver met us on Koh Phangan and took us with another 10 passengers to our hotel in the south. The hotel is nice from the outside, but when we got into the room we would have walked out because of the unpleasant smell of sewage and feces. We took a quick look in the bathroom and saw countless hairs on the soaking wet floor. Before we had time to vomit, we immediately spoke to the guy who took us to the room. He took care: he took the shower (and the po-shower) and showered the floor until there was no more hair to be seen. We just had to laugh. The bathroom smells terrible. The bed linen doesn't seem freshly washed. Air conditioning isn't everything. Well, it'll probably work for 2 nights.

Unfortunately, Nina is still ailing, the night of partying didn't necessarily make it any better. From time to time we both have sad feelings, for very different reasons. Vitamin Sea helped and a mixed fruit plate certainly couldn't hurt either. The sea showed us wind and wild waves and reflected us.

"Moment. Live in the moment! The moment passes. This applies to every good but also to every apparently bad moment. But moments still do something to us, something that can stay.”

And then we realized how privileged we are to be able to sit here on a beautiful beach. We chatted around and started talking trash, laughing again. It's so beautiful how we listen to, respect and encourage each other. We grow through each other and learn from each other day by day. We thought that the trip had already changed us now, after 4 weeks. We see this as a totally positive thing!

After a stroll, we briefly planned our onward journey. Because in 3 days this will continue in Vietnam and a new, exciting but at the same time beneficial chapter will certainly be written by us.

Because Thai food doesn't fit into our favorite menu at the moment, we went to an Italian restaurant again and ordered vegan lasagna and gnocchi with basil pesto. Yummy! We chatted for 2 hours before paying another quick visit to the beach.

At the end of the day we went back to the hotel pretty exhausted and without a shower when a nice guy approached us and said “Sorry? You both look so beautiful! … that’s all.” - that was so sweet! We thanked him in English. Nina then said “they speak German..”, which the boys heard and said “oh you’re from Germany too? No matter, you are still beautiful!”. That put a huge smile on our faces, we thanked them very much and everyone went on their way. What a nice gesture to just pay someone a compliment. We're planning on doing the same for the next few days!

Until tomorrow

Ronja & Nina
