The last day at Jeani

Жарыяланган: 14.04.2023

The day for Heike started like the last days with ear drops. She was pretty sure that her ear pain was caused by a large plug in her ear. Therefore, Christian administered drops in the morning and evening to dissolve the plug. Christian also took the opportunity to do an ear flush. Eventually, Heike had enough and wanted to have certainty before our flight tomorrow. So Jeani drove Heike to the doctor. She explained to her that the local doctors are fast and efficient. They do not have time for chit-chat. Already during the registration process, Heike realized that she is not in Germany. The questions she was asked were quite odd. The initial question was whether she was married. They also wanted to make sure she does not work on a farm. They even hinted at her annual income. Luckily, Jeani came to her aid and explained to the receptionist that they did not need this information because I am not insured in America. The costs are calculated based on income in the USA. Heike also did not have to pay for the doctor's visit on the spot. They will send her an invoice to Germany.

Before I was allowed to see the doctor, I had to be weighed. I did not want to, but the medical assistant did not give in. Years of successfully avoiding the scale were ruined in an instant. Since Heike did not want to know her weight yet, she closed her eyes and asked the medical assistant not to tell her anything.

When they finally sat in the doctor's office and waited for the doctor, Heike couldn't take it anymore. She knew that Jeani had seen her weight. Let's just say it's not always good to be curious.

Fortunately, the doctor came shortly afterwards and relieved Heike from her state of shock.

It turned out that she had an ear infection. Surely it helped that Christian had been dripping water into her ear for the past few days, right!

The doctor was very interested in where Heike came from. When she told him that she was from Heidelberg, he told her that he knew the city. He had gotten diarrhea while passing through on his way to Freiburg and was treated at the Patrick Hendrik Village. Therefore, he had very good memories of Heidelberg. While he typed his report into the computer, Jeani and I were not quite sure if we could leave now. But he made it clear to us with a hand gesture that we should stay seated. He wanted to chat with us a little while longer.

Eventually, the medical assistant stopped by and reminded our doctor that there were more patients waiting for him.

After the scare with the weight, Heike and Jeani decided to go to a cafe and have a bagel with salmon cream. Then they went shopping and the world was almost back in order for Heike.

Later, Victor invited us to have burgers. We were a little disappointed. They were quite small.

The rest of the day, we spent doing laundry and packing.
