Soooo, I'm back in real life and looking back on wonderful days in New York.
Thursday we started with an unbeatable deal of $1 tacos and $9 margaritas in a very cute rooftop bar. Then we went to the very relaxed and generally great hotel. The evening ended with Gauthier and his girlfriend, who also happened to be in New York. We checked out two bars in Greenwich Village :)
But in order to make the most of Friday, we went home (relatively) early, as the alarm went off at 8 a.m. on Friday. We started with a bagel at Liberty Bagels, which included a short walk through the Financial District and a first glimpse of New York's Wall Street. The bagel not only looked very fancy, it was also incredibly tasty. 10/10, I'll probably think about it from time to time :D But of course we didn't go to New York for bagels. So the tourist part began. On the way we walked past the New York Public Library and visited the "Treasury" exhibition, where we saw, among other things, the original Winnie the Pooh stuffed animals and Charles Dickens' desk. After visiting the Empire State Building, we went to Rockefeller Center, where we got tickets for "Top of the Rock" and were able to see New York from above :) Then we went past Times Square to Central Park to come. On the way there was also the typical $1 pizza and for the price it is definitely unbeatable. When we arrived in Central Park, we took a walk to the Alice in Wonderland fountain and then walked to the famous stairs of the MET and took our Gossip Girl picture :) Before we went home to rest and get ready, we stopped by Walked past the World Trade Center and the 9/11 Memorial, which was pretty amazing. After the short rest period, we looked at the Brooklyn Bridge and Pier 17 before we went back to Times Square to see it at night. Afterwards we went to Club Tao. I wasn't a big fan of the music, but it was still pretty fun. We didn't stay long though.
So let's get to Saturday and our trip to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. To be strong enough, we went to Liberty Bagels again and enjoyed our breakfast with a view of the Brooklyn Bridge during the day. From there we walked along the promenade to Battery Park, where our ferry left. The trip took longer than expected, which is why Kristyna and I then drove to Brooklyn to enjoy the last rays of sunshine with a coffee outside. Montse went to MOMA and looked at the gallery. Afterwards we met again in a rooftop bar (here, of course, only with a deal - $5 for a glass of rosé) and then fell into bed at home.
Soooo, as you can tell: seen a lot, especially considering that it was only 2.5 days. My feet became extremely sore after a while. Not only because of my blister on my heel, which is why I explored New York in Crocs, but also because we took around 30,000 steps a day. But I'm absolutely thrilled. Despite the forecast for rain, it was dry throughout and even sunny on Saturday. Plus, unlike expected, it wasn't crowded at all. I would definitely come again and want to get to know other corners of the city. But as they say: pictures say more than 1000 words, so just enjoy these :)
