Today I wasn't alone on my journey 😊 In my current hostel in Krabi, I met a French girl with whom I spent the day. After a hearty breakfast, we went to Ao Nang Beach to enjoy the sea a bit. It was simply fantastic. I savored every second. After lunch, we returned to the hostel, as we had booked the Tiger Cave Temple Tour for the afternoon through the hostel. Accompanied by a monsoon-like rain shower, we found out at the hostel that they had canceled the tour due to the rain. Supposedly, it would be too dangerous to climb the 1237 steps. Sam from Canada wasn't happy about that and decided to plan the tour on his own. In the end, there were 11 of us. The hostel ordered a minibus for us, and we set off to the Tiger Cave Temple in pouring rain. When we arrived, the rain had almost stopped, and we started the ascent. At first, you think that 1237 steps wouldn't be so bad, but appearances can be deceiving. Especially because the Thais apparently have never heard of safety standards, as the step height changed after every section (about 30-40 steps). When we finally reached the summit, we were rewarded with a magnificent view.
What was also very impressive was that due to the rain, which cannot drain easily in the streets, the moisture rose upwards. Within 3 minutes, we were surrounded by a cloud and could only see about 50m ahead. Just as we were about to leave, the clouds dispersed, and we were able to admire the sunset.
The descent was a bigger challenge after the ascent, as it became dark and the lights on the stairs didn't work. When we reached the bottom, our calves were trembling like never before.
But it was worth it. Just because of the pictures :)
