21.02.2017: GOR: Back to Apollo Bay

Жарыяланган: 24.02.2017

Early in the morning we went to Tower Hill Wildlife Reserve, about half an hour from Warrnambool. The reserve is an island of volcanic origin. There were plenty of emus, koalas, kangaroos, and wallabies. We took a short hike around the island's last volcano before heading back to the Great Ocean Road. On the way back, we stopped again to see the infamous 'Blowhole'. After searching and climbing over fences for a long time, we finally found it. On this occasion, we also explored the canyons of Muttonbirdisland.

The next stop was Gibbson Steps, which led to a beach at the Twelve Apostles. Then we went to Wrack Beach, which took us 30 minutes to drive on an unsealed road and then climb a lot of stairs. It wasn't really worth it, even the nearby Gabel Outlook was somewhat unspectacular.

In Apollo Bay, we walked to Mariners Lookout, which revealed a breathtaking view of the coast, before heading to our cozy hostel.
