After our trip through the national park on the Russian border, we continued southbound. The next major city is called Rovaniemi and is located exactly on the Arctic Circle and is the gateway to Lapland. AND. Here lives Santa Claus officially. He sits in his office all day and receives all the people who want a little audience with him, accepts pacifiers, poses for photos and videos. Yes, you can even watch Santa Claus and his guests all day with a live webcam (www.santaclausoffice.com). We also had the pleasure of chatting with him in his office (in German!) for about 2 minutes, as you can see in the photo (Thanks again to Lisa, who watched us through the live webcam and took a screenshot! :) ) I (Anne) was so excited because the entrance to the Santa Claus Office was really excitingly prepared and made me feel like a little child.
With big smiles on our faces, we left his office and we can assure you: Santa Claus will come to us this year too - he promised us! Then we went to the post office, where countless wish lists from all over the world arrive every year and we sent some cards with an official Santa Claus postmark.
(The Santa Claus Village is really nicely done and fortunately also free, it is definitely charming there in the winter with lots of snow, because it was already funny in July to see Santa Claus with his flowing beard and red hat... There are countless Christmas souvenir shops, huskies to pet (and sleds to ride in winter), reindeer to look at, etc.)
In Rovaniemi itself, we only went shopping and I (Anne) finally bought a new cell phone because my old one was catapulted out of the car at the North Cape and shattered into a thousand pieces.
