Sightseeing Seattle

Sleep in 😁 What a luxury on this vacation 😊 Almost 8.40 according to my watch. We relaxed into the bathroom and when everyone was ready we went a few meters down the street to have breakfast at the Cherry Street Coffee House. Strengthened by a bagle ham, cheese & egg and a hot chocolate, we went on an exploration tour. Pike Place Market was first on the agenda. Pike Place Market opened in 1907 and is one of the oldest continuously operating public farmers' markets in the United States. The market runs through several levels and there is simply everything. From food to comics to hairdressers and bars, everyone will find what they are looking for here. On the top floor is the fish market, where traders sell salmon, some of which are 1m long. Here we watched for a while and made bets on who would not catch their fish. But, no fish fell to the ground😅 Two floors further down, a comic and co shop was my downfall. There were blind boxes with unicorns to collect. I have no idea how long I stood in front of it, but in the end I couldn't resist and took one with me. Straight out of the store and unpacked. And it was so beautiful, this little glitter collectible unicorn, that I went back and bought another blind box. And again 🥰 Well, now I'm a collector of the tokidoki frozen treats unicorns. So if you want to do something good for me, it's my birthday soon 🤣 And I am a fox. Unfortunately, shipping to Germany is not exactly cheap. So I wrote to my friend Matze, who is currently living in the States for a while, asking if I could have the things sent to him and he would then distribute them to his visitors from Germany so that they reach me.😇 Okay, he has to laugh first, because yes, those things are cheesy, but I can have as much as I want delivered to him💪🏼 Matze, you are a treasure 😊
The men just laughed at me mildly🤷🏼‍♀️🤣 Since we were here before, from the market down to the pier you can walk through Post Alley, where the Gum Wall is located. Well, I have no idea who came up with that, but it was pretty gross. A wall full of what must have been thousands of pieces of chewing gum. In 2015 the wall was cleaned and all chewing gum was removed. 1070 kg of chewing gum were removed in 130 hours🤮 And now it looks like this again🙈 Once seen, that's enough.
We continued to Miner's Landing Pier 57. Strolled through once, lingered briefly under the Ferris wheel and continued along the water to Pier 55. Strolled through the various shops and did some bulk shopping at Starbucks, collecting cups for Joy. At Elliot's Oyster House we made ourselves comfortable at the bar and spent a while watching our Wild Wings game. The men chat, I tried my hand at the blog from the lecture. At some point it became clear that the gentlemen didn't really want to move on. No problem, I'm already grown up, so I moved on alone. We went to the Cheesecake Factory for a piece of lemon rabsberry cream cheesecake. Here Tommy sat with another lady from our tour group, and I joined them both. I learned from Jürgen that the Sky View Observatory - Columbia Center was recommended. Tommy, who had just come from, could only say yes. And as luck would have it, there was a message in the travel WhatsApp group saying that anyone who wants to go up there should tell the checkout that they are part of the German travel group and you will get a $10 discount. So it was clear that I would go up there. In the elevator up I met Jörg and also Uwe, with whom I had been in touch because he always had good ideas for things to do, arrived at the top shortly afterwards. The Columbia Center is the tallest building in Seattle. And the view from the Space Needle was topped. Since the center is in the middle of the city you could really see everywhere and Space Needle seemed pretty puny in comparison😅 The three of us spent quite a while up there with tea and good conversations. At around 4:30 p.m. we made our way to the hotel together. The streets here are reminiscent of SF in places. And then, rain, steep and very slippery, who cares🙄 The contents of my Starbucks bag spread on the street or rolled downhill. The special edition Seattle mug, gone😭 Jörg was so nice and ran after my things and collected everything as best he could. A look down, your favorite jeans on your ass and your knee is bloody🙄 Yay. And all of this is just a 5-minute walk from the Columbia Center to the hotel. Jörg and Uwe went straight to the hotel, I made a detour to the pier to get a new mug for Joy🤷🏼‍♀️ What do you want to do when your child collects them and it was great. Back at the hotel, all the stones were removed from my knee with tweezers and the wound was cleaned as best as possible. Thank God Andi has a large collection of plasters with him 😅 After being treated and changed, I met up with Uwe and Jörg again and we took the bus to the arena together. Andi and my Jörg had already moved on and sat in the beer house near the arena😅 The sick were playing against the St. Louis Blues today. And we had really good places in the lower tier. Andi arrived at some point, my Jörg stayed in the beer house😅🤷🏼‍♀️ To the game, really good. It was really exciting. St. Louis took the lead, then it became a constant back and forth. It went into overtime at 3:3, which the Blues won 4:3. After the game we went straight to the hotel. Andi and I actually wanted to take the bus with Uwe and Franzi, but the street where our bus stop was was blocked by the police. We didn't feel like looking for another bus stop or waiting. So we walked the 1.6 mi to the hotel. Arrived there, packed my bags straight away and got the blog up to speed. Quitting time.
