At 23:55 we continue in Singapore. Surprisingly, it is not fully booked, but unfortunately we got a full row. After dinner, everything is dimmed down and we try to sleep as much as possible. After 13 hours, we land punctually at 6:20 in Frankfurt. Since we have time until the German railway takes us to Trier, we have a coffee at the bakery and notice: The German 'grumbling' has caught up with us again. We are shocked by the unfriendliness here and are probably spoiled by the great friendliness in New Zealand. However, the train conductor is nice and the train is on time, which is also unusual. Arriving in Trier, we make our way to the car, which is parked on Reinhards construction site. Reinhard greets his colleague and then: oh dear - the car doesn't start - not a sound! Luckily, there is the ADAC, which actually arrives on site after 20 minutes and provides jump-start. The car runs and we can start our journey home. Everything goes well until just before Pforzheim and then the motorway is closed. However, TomTom redirects us to a good alternative route that is not congested yet, but takes time.
So we finally arrive at home around 19:30 after about 40 hours from Auckland Airport to our front door feeling quite exhausted.
But everything is good - our dear neighbor and house sitter Ingrid has left a welcome greeting on the table - spring is arriving.
This makes saying goodbye to the New Zealand summer a little easier. And we both have another week off to recover from jet lag ;-)
