We have now been on our break for almost 2 months, on the road since January 23rd and in Tenerife for a month. During a phone call to Hamburg, a friend asked us if we had ever been bored? The answer was: No, not for a moment! A new “everyday life” is developing on the road that really fills us up. On the one hand, we of course allow ourselves the luxury of taking things a little more slowly in the morning. As die-hard early birds, we are always awake before 8 a.m. (just to watch the sunrise over the Atlantic with a cup of English tea in hand). The ideal day continues with exercise on the beach and then a jump into the waves. Then coffee and breakfast on the bus, preferably with a view of the sea.
In the ideal world it continues with either A: windsurfing B: biking or C: hiking, the main thing is to keep moving! We usually skip the siesta out of necessity. We end the ideal day with an hour on the beach, sunbathing and swimming. Then something delicious is cooked (we go out to eat relatively rarely) and enjoyed with a glass of wine in hand with the sliding door open (and a perfect sunset over the sea, of course)...
Logically, not every day follows this ideal pattern. When you're permanently on the road, there are a whole range of things that have to be done: finding a place to park for the night, tidying up the motorhome (there are a huge number of items in a small space), doing laundry, taking care of and disposing of the motorhome , maintaining sports equipment, carrying out minor repairs, shopping of course and occasionally writing the travel blog ;-)
In this respect, a break like this is completely different than, for example, a two-week vacation in a hotel. How can you best describe it? It's not a classic vacation. It's a new (very nice) "everyday life" with a lot of freedom and few obligations in a very beautiful place in the world. And you have to be very careful to always be aware of this and not to take this privilege for granted! In this respect: Enjoy the moment and no, it's not boring!
