February 14, 2020, project in Nsawam and unscrupulous criminals

Жарыяланган: 07.03.2020

Today the alarm clock went off at 4:30 am because Rose and Johannes took me to Nsawam. It was a pleasant 22°C there.
However, it is expected to reach up to 40°C in the afternoon.
There we met a young woman who has set up a school on site.
However, there are several major problems here...

Now let's first talk about the background of the story. Rose and Johannes were contacted by the children of a deceased Swiss man who lived in Nsawam with his Ghanaian wife.
Unfortunately, both have passed away and since the children have no interest in the land and buildings, they have transferred it to a foundation.
The young woman who is now taking care of the land and the school first showed us the specific land and buildings. The first problem is that there is a lack of money in every corner. The 'school' consists of two open classrooms where a total of 5 classes are taught. The dilapidated tables and chairs could just as well be placed outside and it wouldn't make much difference.

The other problem is that some of the land has been sold to an 'Estate Developer' who has now completely cleared it to build more buildings on it. Bananas trees and other crops used for the school's food supply were growing there, which were crucial.
Unfortunately, nothing more can be done here, as the land has been sold and there are documents for it.
However, the 'Estate Developer' has very powerful men who are trying to seize the other land that does not belong to them and simply clear it and demolish the buildings. The problem is that the men are threatening the people there with weapons, which is why they are afraid for their lives. A larger piece of land could still be saved. However, a large fence must be built to fence off the property and deter the men. And that, of course, costs money that the people simply do not have. In addition, the young woman can barely afford the attorney fees. But she needs a lawyer because she does not want to see the land being increasingly besieged by criminals and the people have to live in constant fear.
Rose and Johannes are now considering how they can help the woman with her project. However, everything legal needs to be clarified again and it needs to be investigated who exactly owns which land there and who has what rights.

It really bothered me and saddened me today. But what makes it even sadder is that we can't do much to help and we have to watch as people suffer and fear for their lives around the clock...

Oh, and in our kitchen there are two roosters running around that Rose spontaneously bought in Nsawam and they are now waiting to be butchered...
