17/03/2023 to 18/03/2023 - Lagoons & Volcanoes / Bolivia

Жарыяланган: 23.03.2023

Today, the lagoons of Bolivia were at the top of our program. We passed a herd of llamas, strolling casually along the road. Quinoa fields in the most colorful hues passed us by, and fortunately, we only saw the snow-covered Ollagüe Volcano from a viewpoint. Then we continued. Sometimes, we left behind dense clouds of dust, sometimes it was rocky, with and without tufts of grass, the landscape is very varied. Suddenly, we had a flat tire, and we took advantage of the forced stop to enjoy nature. Afterwards, we visited the first lagoons and observed all three species of flamingos that can be seen here. After lunch at one of the lagoons, we set off through the Siloli Desert with its amazing rock formations and cute chinchillas. On the way there, we came across an Andean fox, who watched us just as curiously as we watched him. Our last stop was the Laguna Colorada with its red color and hundreds of flamingos. After reaching our accommodation in the middle of a small village in the desert, we enjoyed the most beautiful starry sky of our lives.

On the final day of our tour, the alarm clock rang at 4:15 am. Just in time for sunrise, we arrived at the "Sol de la Manana" geysers. Although no water shoots up here, we heard, saw, and smelled how active mother nature is. Then we went to the hot springs to warm up from the cold desert night. We crossed the Salvador Dali Desert, which was named after the artist because the rock formations are said to resemble his paintings, although he has never been here himself. With the Laguna Verde, we visited our last stop in Bolivia, and then, after some waiting time, we crossed the border into Chile. Here, we decided to switch vehicles, and our jeep tour was quickly over.
