Day 1 - from Merano to Tisens

Жарыяланган: 10.09.2017

So, here I am again. Started well and arrived well, especially. Unfortunately, my navigation system has problems, so I cannot provide any geographical data. Fortunately, I was able to solve the problems, but the data from today is unfortunately gone?

But what else is there to report. Anyone who has read 'Day 1 - short and sweet' knows that there were no injuries or blisters, that the navigation system is acting up, and that there are losses.

Yes, very tragic, very quietly, I didn't even notice it. Whether it came suddenly or gradually, I can't say. He's gone, left me, I hope forever and ever. Farewell 'inner couch potato'! Everyone knows him, everyone has probably had contact with him before, their own and very personal inner couch potato.

As I walked through the rain today and thought about what I could write, I suddenly realized that there is no one who would normally prevent you from going out in pouring rain to walk to the next door 14 km away. Very strange, I thought and then I realized, he's gone. Of course, I shouldn't rejoice too soon, because at some point he will try to return to my life, but one thing is certain, he can expect something.

What was very positive today was that it only rained once, from Merano to the target or I believe a few meters before it stopped. I didn't notice anything, as I was already completely soaked. But it could have also poured, lightning, thunder or rained young dogs. 'Alisha, if there had been young Labradors, I would have brought one for you.'

Unfortunately, I could only enjoy the landscape to a limited extent, as my glasses were completely covered with raindrops on the outside and fogged up on the inside. By the way, this can be seen very well in the pictures, as well as the hazy and rainy landscape.

So, but now to the hike. Started at the hotel, after a few minutes I had the feeling that I was already exhausted, but that was not the case - luckily. After initially walking on the road, at some point it turned into rough terrain, uphill and downhill. Very narrow paths, on one side it went downhill into the orchards, on the right there was a water ditch, a so-called "waal", and next to it it went uphill. The only problem were the huge puddles, in some places there was very little room to maneuver. I already saw myself in one of the ditches, but as I said, nothing happened.

After about three quarters of an hour, I reached the bus station in Lana. There I could take shelter, put down my backpack, get some provisions and put on another jacket. I was tempted, because there was a bus there that was going to Tisens. But no, I was feeling good, things were going well, why take the bus? Because of the rain maybe? No!

It was said that I had already covered 8 km, but somehow I couldn't believe it. After a short rest, I continued along the sidewalk on the road - who needs that? Fortunately, it soon continued on one of the waal paths.

Not much had changed in the situation: puddles, narrow paths, foggy glasses, hazy landscape - but I liked it.

Lana takes a little longer and at some point there was a waterfall, to which I took a detour. Cool, what a noise.

At some point, there was a sign saying 'Tisens 2 hours', which frustrated me and I wondered how that could be, wasn't I already further? When it went uphill and didn't stop, I could understand why it would take 2 hours. But no matter, I kept going. And at some point, Tisens was already visible on the display, but what is the name of my hotel and where is it? Poorly packed, the address was somewhere at the back of my backpack. I must do better tomorrow. So, short break, take off rain poncho, rummage for address and continue. I think it had just stopped raining

After only a few hundred meters, I found it, the Hotel Hillebrand in Tisens.

Oh dear, where have I ended up here? I was very fast today, but not at 140 miles/hour (like in 'Back to the Future') and I don't have the legendary flux capacitor (also 'Back to the Future'). But I'm sure I've time traveled. From the outside, everything still looked like here and today, but inside it felt like a jump in time, and when I entered my room, I was sure I had traveled back. I must have arrived somewhere in the fifties or sixties. I never thought that tiles would stick to the wall for so long and not fall off due to the aging of the adhesive. The furniture must be of good quality, otherwise they would have been replaced in the meantime. Darn it, it just occurred to me that I haven't tested the mattress yet. Hopefully it's at least from modern times.

But the people here are nice, even if they look like they're from the time of furniture manufacturing.

At the moment, I'm sitting in the café or bar or whatever they call this museum room. The interior could have been designed by the same designer who set up the cannon in Nauborn, back then. I'm amazed at how in the past you can receive sappy radio stations from the present. HR4 is modern rock music compared to what is playing here. Geez, it's choking me, even though the cake and the latte are fresh. Maybe not a time travel after all?

Oh yes, they even have a swimming pool. Room temperature great, water not so great. But I was able to relax for a few minutes and probably ruined the navigation system in the process. But that's where the time travel is confirmed.

There's nothing more to report. My biggest concern is that my things won't be dry by tomorrow.

For dinner, I will have the provisions from today. I wasn't hungry or in the mood for food and had no desire. If Carola knew that I didn't drink much, she would scold me. But I'm sure I absorbed plenty of fluids through my skin.

Oh yes, one thing did annoy me. Because of the weather, I couldn't use the GoPro. Due to the rain poncho and rain cover on the backpack, I couldn't mount the lightning rod. Too bad, but the pictures probably wouldn't have turned out that great anyway.

That should be enough for today. I will try to upload some more pictures.

Check back tomorrow for 'Back to the Future' on SoloHikingToLakeGarda.
