Living in Banjhe

Жарыяланган: 31.12.2018

Currently, I am living in Banjhe with about 60 volunteers from all around the world at the All Hands & Hearts Camp. Banjhe is a very remote place with approximately 1,500 residents who primarily make a living through agriculture. Now, some of them are also working on the construction site, cooking for us, or have opened a small shop. So, with the construction of the school, we are not only helping 200 children but also the entire village community.

Our day starts at 6 am. We wake up, have breakfast, and brush our teeth while watching the sunrise. Then, we put on our helmets and start working on the construction site. We have Dhalbhat for lunch. After that, we continue working until 4 pm. Thankfully, we have a lukewarm bucket shower (thanks to solar power). In the evenings, we have a meeting, dinner, and then most of us gather around the fire under the starry sky. Everyone works hard, there is no electricity, no running water, but everyone is happy.

This project is soooo good and so much fun. In order for it to continue, we need donations :) And everyone can spare 10€...

Oh, and we celebrate New Year's Eve by only working half a day today and having a day off tomorrow. However, in Nepal, they have a different calendar and don't actually celebrate New Year's, so our curfew is at 12:30 am...

But happy New Year to everyone!
