“Resting day” and Wasootch Ridge

Dɛn dɔn pablish am: 22.07.2022

As the weather forecast changed to unstable conditions and rain, we thought it was time for a resting day. Well…We ended up in the climbing gym in Canmore. But it was fun to test ourselves again to our limits regarding difficulty, as the climbing grading system is different here than the one we are used to. After that, we took a brief swim in the pool (since it’s all included there) and relaxed in the steam room. So, after that “resting day” we were actually quite worn out.

Fortunately, the weather forecast got better, so we had to make the most out of the next day! Since we couldn’t really use our fatigued arms, we had to use our still fresh legs and did a hike up Wasootch Ridge. It was beautiful as it was going up the ridge the whole time. The last part even included some hands-on scrambling which was the most fun part for us. We could observe some cute Golden-mantled ground squirrels again. One was really curious and checked us out through a little hole in a stone less than 1m away (see pictures!).

After the hike, we made a stop at Mt Lorette Ponds just because they were along our way back, so we didn’t have high expectations. Best idea ever! When you see such crystal clear water, you gotta do what you gotta do…hop in! UUUUGHH it was freezing cold! Well, the water there comes directly from the mountains covered with snow… But it was totally worth this amazing refreshment.
