My son now lives in Valais - the canton that is home to over 40 four-thousanders.
I travel by train because from home to Naters it's already almost 8 hours by car, which I don't need for the first time, it only takes 10 hours by train. But you see a lot of Switzerland , because I pass through several cantons, past the Rhine Falls, through Bern, past Lake Thun... simply fantastic... on the to-do list.
Arriving in Naters, you are initially amazed - I have never been on a 4,000-meter peak and there are so many around me - madness.
The Simplon Pass can be seen from the terrace, Zermatt is not far away, Italy and France are nearby, Lake Geneva is only about 1 hour away... a very beautiful area.
We take a trip to the Matterhorn, you drive to Täschen and from there you have to take the train, Zermatt is car-free. From there we take the Gornergrat railway to Sunegga and hike the Five Lakes Trail. You always have a postcard panorama, as the Matterhorn is always in the background of the lakes.
Then we went to Sion/Siders, a beautiful city with a French flair.
