Day 2 - London

Dɛn dɔn pablish am: 26.07.2018

Hello there,

Today we explored London on foot once again. But before that, we got to know our host family, an Indian couple with a little daughter, a little better and even got some fruits as a snack. Then we took the subway to the city. Thanks to some outdated British pound notes from our travel fund, one of us had the opportunity to visit the Bank of England from the inside, which is otherwise not accessible to visitors. The banknotes were exchanged free of charge there.

After that, we continued along the Thames to the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, and after a short power nap, we continued along the Thames and crossed Waterloo Bridge back to the city center. There, we got to see Covent Garden and the beautiful Burough Market before moving on to Hyde Park. We had a relaxing picnic there.

The highlight of the day was watching the sunset at Primrose Hill with a breathtaking view of the entire city. Oh, and we also made a stop at Paddington Station. Now we are sitting in the subway after walking 20 km and looking forward to a shower and bed.

Tomorrow we will start early to go to York and continue to Newcastle in the afternoon. But more about that tomorrow.

See you later,

Veronika and Christine
