We start the day with the familiar route along the lake back to Queenstown. From there, the area becomes more deserted. The road leads to a small pass, from where we admire the fascinating view of the hilly landscape.
After 4 hours of pure driving time, we arrive at Lake Pukaki, a turquoise glacier lake. The 'Free Camping' area is already busy, but as often, we find a great spot on the outskirts for ourselves. Since it's very windy, we enjoy the lake view from the camper. Thomas, this bookworm, takes the opportunity and finishes reading his Hobbit book after two weeks, while Pia serves him a broccoli-carrot-cheese soup.
