Hello dear,
on 13.04. we were able to experience the Thai New Year (Songkran).
The whole country celebrates New Year and everything and everyone gets wet with water. No consideration is taken for anything or anyone, and every passerby is made wet. Taxis and motorbike drivers are particularly popular targets. Loud music is played and people dance all day. A huge party, comparable to Father's Day and Carnival combined... 😅👍
We spent the whole day outside on the street, celebrating with a Thai family and wetting passersby. We had an incredibly fun time! This day cannot be put into words.. We will remember it for a long time 🥰 Due to corona, the water festival did not take place in the last two years, so it was celebrated even more.
Unfortunately, we cannot upload videos here, they would describe the atmosphere much better...
In the evening, we just fell into bed completely exhausted, couldn't stand to see any more water, and our hands were completely soaked 😬
Yesterday on 14.04. we all booked a Thai cooking class together. We were able to choose various dishes in advance, then went to the market with our cook and bought the ingredients. After that, we went to the cooking school.
We prepared the ingredients together, made coconut milk ourselves, then followed instructions to cook and afterwards ate our dishes together. On the menu were, among other things, fried spring rolls, glass noodle salad, fried rice and our beloved Pad Thai 🥰
We learned a lot, our cook taught us a lot and showed us tips and tricks.
The cooking class lasted a total of 5 hours - we hope we will cook some of these dishes in Germany as well.
