As we leave Costa Rica, I would like to conclude and write a few warm words about the country.
The people are so nice, friendly, open-minded and helpful. We could always rely on them. But there are also strange characters walking around the cities, like drug-addicted homeless people with strange walking habits.
The country has a lot to offer. Highlands, forests, cloud forests, rainforests, beaches, sea, diving spots, racing cyclists, trucks, lots of animals and countless potholed roads. The adventure ends now and the new one begins.
Tattoos are considered good manners and are completely acceptable from the age of 14. Smoking is absolutely out and is no longer allowed in any establishment, even hotels prohibit smokers. Alcohol is relatively expensive, beer in the supermarket starts at €1.50 for 0.33l. Wine is not less than €14. Food is also generally twice as expensive as in Germany.
