9th Day Praja da Luz

Dɛn dɔn pablish am: 16.02.2022

Oops, that was fast. Okay, I've neglected the blog a bit. But actually, I'm not entirely to blame.

On the 6th day, we set off from Salamanca towards the south and drove all the way to the Portuguese border at Badajoz.

Nice roads, hardly any traffic, uninhabited land. The landscape alternates between olive groves and rocky pastureland, with lots of cattle. And specifically, the Spanish ones, the brown ones with the huge horns.

During a short break on the road, a 'yellow angel' actually stopped immediately and asked if I needed help. Really great, but the bus is still running fine.

Before the border, I filled up the tank, the fuel prices in Portugal are similar to those in France, according to Dr. Google.

I eventually crossed southern Portugal on all country roads, and after a whopping 2700 km, I could already see the sea.

My golf and travel buddy Chris spends the winter here, and the plan was maybe to rent a small apartment in his residential complex.

But for the first night, I ended up at the campsite. Checked in around 3 pm, 16 euros per night.

I'm probably the youngest participant, surrounded by sprightly retirees with giant RVs. I forgot Herbert's and the others' names, but they immediately became my friends. We help each other out, you know. Take the other power box, park a little further, there's no sun there, etc.

Chris picked me up at 7 pm, as there was a golf dinner in Lagos.

Lagos is the larger city near Praja da Luz. You go there for better shopping, a fish market, markets, etc.

Shortly after 11 pm, I was back at the campsite, looking out of my bus at car wash 2. The hottest water comes out of there, according to Herbert.

Then I wrote the report and when I tried to send it, everything crashed. Maybe it's a mistake on the user's end. Sorry.

The next morning, Chris had arranged an apartment next to his for me. It's nice living here with a view of the sea, my own kitchen, a beautiful bathroom, TV, everything's great.

We've already been golfing twice. 2 days ago, there was a big barbecue in my place. There were 8 people. All Chris' friends. I should have invited Herbert.

More to come soon.
