The alarm clock rang at 8:00 am. Today we were a bit in a hurry. We had to be in Jukkasjärvi at 10:00 am. There we had booked an exclusive tour including reindeer feeding and traditional Sami food in a Sami Village. And we can be proud of ourselves: at 09:58 we entered the reception. The children, of course, liked feeding the reindeer and catching the wooden reindeer with a lasso the best. For us, the information about the life of the indigenous people of Lapland was also super interesting. For dinner we had smoked, torn reindeer meat and as a vegetarian option mushroom soup. We enjoyed the whole thing in a Sami tipi by an open fire.
Perfectly, you could buy the original Sami reindeer-catching lassos there as well.
In total, we spent 2 1/2 hours there and then moved on to the ice hotel in the same street. That was such a cool experience ...in the truest sense of the word. -5C and everything inside made of ice and snow. A dream come true for our two ice queens. Elsa's ice palace in life-size. Really very impressive and definitely worth a trip.
Back at the campsite, Anika and I decided to test the pool belonging to the campsite, including the spectacular water slide. Expecting a shock from the cold water, we gathered all our courage and jumped in. But to our surprise, the water was warm. Later we found out that the pool is heated.
After dinner, it started to rain and I decided not to leave the caravan except for urgent matters. Sandra made use of the remaining hours in the attached wellness area and the children had the greatest joy playing in the rain.
Tomorrow we have one last long car ride ahead of us. Final destination Andenes.
