After a restful night, today a long stage was already on the program. From Weistannen it goes over the Foopass to Elm. Already yesterday evening I saw on the hiking trail signpost that it takes 9 hours to Elm!!!! Well, I'm used to taking time off the hiking trail signpost, let's see. In any case, I was well rested and strengthened with a fine breakfast. The path first led gently along the Seez river, with information boards about ibex. These were reintroduced to the Weisstannental in 1911 after they had become practically extinct throughout Central Europe. I made good progress, the forests already slightly autumnal, and after about 1.5 hours it went uphill for real. The path was completely trampled by the cattle, which had recently come down from the Alps. I enjoyed it very much and had the song "happy" by Patent Ochsner in my head the whole time. The rock of the Sardona mountains revealed itself to me, and the last meters of altitude before the Foopass were tough on my legs. After 4 hours I was on the Foopass and enjoyed the 360-degree view. In sunny weather, I took an extensive lunch break before starting the descent to Elm. Technically very easy, but with the two bikers who came towards me with their bikes on their backs, I didn't want to trade places. After just under 6 hours, 23km and 1350 meters of altitude, I reached Elm. I admired the Martinsloch and checked in at the Hotel Elmer. On the terrace, I enjoyed a cappuccino, with another view of the Martinsloch. Although I wanted to eat there right away, since nothing is open at all, I decided to go to the Hotel Sardona. The hotel was also seen in the series Wilder. Good choice with pasta, red wine, and a view of the Sardona rock. Behind me at the table were two military chamois, and I had an exciting conversation... On the way back to my hotel, I really enjoyed the impressive mountains. My thighs are very tired and looking forward to some rest!!
