Today was the day.

The first day at our internships started.

For all of us, that meant navigating through the London Underground on our own. Since we had explored a lot of London the week before and had practiced riding the subway, it was not a big hurdle anymore.

For me, today was my first day at London Duck Tours at Waterloo Station. Since they were not expecting me yet, I got to go on a sightseeing tour with London Duck Tours to get an overview of what my company actually does.

They offer a very special type of sightseeing where you explore the city from the road and the Thames on amphibious buses - also called 'DUCK'.

After the tour, I went back to the office and completed smaller tasks until the end of my workday.

Since we are all placed in different companies, I will also tell you a bit about my first day at Elizabeth House in East London.

Elizabeth House is a social institution that mainly takes care of children from socially disadvantaged families and provides them with a structured and entertaining program for a small fee after school or during holidays.

When I arrived there at 9:00 a.m., things started right away because the children are dropped off or even picked up by employees at this time. Although I work in the office and had to do mostly filing yesterday to tidy up the mess a bit, I still feel like I'm working with the children because the office doors are left open here, so you hear the playing children all day and also get a visit from the little ones from time to time.

The colleagues here make a great effort to make the children have a nice day and they are also a well-coordinated team among themselves, so I can only say that although it's something completely different compared to work at home, it's definitely interesting to experience.

Let's see what the coming weeks have in store for us!
