16.08.16: Alone in Tokyo

After arriving at my really cool hostel, I headed to the train station to exchange my rail pass and reserve seats for the Shinkansen. Despite the rainy weather, I set out to visit some sights.

Just 200 meters from the main train station, the Imperial Palace was located in a park. Unfortunately, you can't get very close without a registered guide, but I managed to find the only worthwhile photo spot.

Close by was the beautiful Hibiya Park, which borders Tokyo's business district. In the midst of the skyscrapers stands a Godzilla statue.

Originally, the plan was to visit the Gotokuji Temple, but after a 1.5-hour journey, I discovered that it had already closed 15 minutes before my arrival. I was not thrilled :(

After an equally long journey back, I returned to the hostel. Just in time, because a typhoon announced itself with strong winds and rain. In the hostel, I met nice people. For example, Wesley from Chicago and Nico from Switzerland.
