Phuket with the scooter

Dɛn dɔn pablish am: 29.10.2019

The flight to Phuket was really great, Thai Airways impressed with great service and great airplanes, even on such a short distance. In Phuket itself, we had to pay 1400 Baht for a 35km ride (to Patong Beach, seven Seas Hotel), which is very expensive for Thai standards and taxi, but unfortunately there was nothing else available at night. When we arrived at the hotel, we got a room upgrade, terrace and pool view, but nothing special, because the air conditioning sounds like a jet taking off. But we had to decide, party noise or a bit more peace and quiet. At 2 o'clock we fell into bed completely exhausted and slept until 9 o'clock. For breakfast, luckily there was no Thai omelette this time, but pancakes. Afterwards, we organized the onward journey to Khao Sok for the next day and rented a scooter for the activities on this Saturday, October 26th, 2019. At half past 10 we started on the bike, beach hopping, looking at view points and up to the Big Buddha. To the Big Buddha it was so steep that I was briefly afraid that we would drive backwards again, my feeling was not completely wrong, we had to refuel directly after the descent, even though we had started at the top. Nevertheless, the ride was worth it, because you were rewarded with free entry and a great view. For all temple visits, the knees and shoulders must be covered, so my sarong that I bought in Bangkok came in handy again. On the way down we took a break at a restaurant, also a great view, delicious fruit smoothies and my food, well, so-so, but Marius' food tasted good. From the Big Buddha we continued to Phuket Old Town. The old town is known for its Portuguese style. Unfortunately, I was somewhat disappointed, although you could guess the style, all in all it was rather dirty. Nevertheless, we found a nice café and enjoyed ourselves after having been surprised by a short, heavy rain shower. Afterwards, we went back and returned the scooter punctually at dusk around 6 o'clock. In order to make use of the evening a bit, we went on foot to the city center and strolled and shopped. Especially for each of us two t-shirts, because we realized that we should protect our shoulders from the sun a bit better on excursions, at least that's what my slight sunburn on my back says. For dinner, we bought fruit from a food stand, mango, pineapple, melon and wau wau. I have no idea what the latter is, the consistency is more like a mixture of kohlrabi and apple, slightly sweet in taste and the color is poisonous green. Then we went to bed, because the next day it was time to get up early.
