On October 30, 2017, after the hiking tour, I will be heading to Bolivia on the same evening. The bus departs at 10 PM. I have a great seat and sleep almost the entire night.
At around 8 AM, we reach Puno, our last stop in Peru. Here, we have a two-hour layover. I use the time at Lake Titicaca to stretch my legs, have breakfast, and meet a celebrity.
At 10 AM, we continue towards Copacabana, Bolivia. The journey only takes 3 1/2 hours and goes by quickly. Upon reaching the border, it's time to collect our luggage and change buses. The formalities are quickly done, and I am already in another country. The new bus is a bit late and not as comfortable as the previous one. But it's sufficient for the 15-minute ride.
Arriving in Copacabana, we are dropped off at a central point, and I struggle to carry myself and my luggage up the hill to the hostel. There, I am pleasantly surprised by the nice layout of the grounds. During check-in, the surprise awaits. It is an eco-hostel. After using the toilet, instead of flushing, they use some kind of sawdust :) Memories of the eco-toilets at the 3000 Degree Festival come back. Furthermore, smoking, drinking alcohol, and preparing any kind of meat are prohibited in the hostel. Just my thing :)
But it's okay, I go into the 'town' and look around. I have lunch and return early in the evening. In my room, I have three nice Swiss people with whom I go out for dinner and end the day.
There are also only 3 pictures from the journey ;)
