After 2070 km we finally reach Portugal's border at the Douro dam!
In Miranda do Douro, a pretty, old town, we have our first Portuguese latte on the Praca Dom Joa, with two pasteis, of course.
It is Sunday and there is a mass going on in the cathedral, so we cannot take a closer look inside.
In the square we are greeted by the sounds of waltzes from the café. Beethoven's 5th, the Prisoners' Chorus, Swan Lake and the Vltava follow - a little strange!
From the cathedral we have a wonderful view of the Douro!
We decide to continue on the N 218, which is full of curves and serpentines, past the Christ Basilica in Oteiro to Braganca.
After a short siesta, it's time to tour the city, from the citadel, which stands above our very nice parking spot, along the little houses inside the fortress, past the pillory, which rests on a wild boar, we go to the historic old town, the church of Sao Vicente, to the Praca de Se.
We stroll on, treat ourselves to a small beer as an aperitif and then have a delicious meal at Rosina's!
